My Story

When I was a child, my parents had to work abroad, leaving me to live at school during the weekdays. My weekends were spent with my grandparents, alternating between playing games on my aunt’s computer and immersing myself in the world of toys and TV. But it wasn't just any games or toys that caught my attention—it was stories. I loved creating my own narratives and imagining myself as the hero in my makeshift adventures, whether it was role-playing market scenes with my grandfather or commanding toy armies on my bed.

My love for stories grew as I discovered comics and novels, especially Chinese ones. English, on the other hand, was a different story. My English vocabulary was limited, and I struggled to keep up in school. I convinced myself that I hated English, but deep down, it wasn’t the language I disliked—it was the frustration of not being good at it.

Despite my struggles, I found solace in the stories I could understand, particularly those in Chinese. I would sneak novels into school and read them during classes, even though I knew it wasn’t allowed. The stories of heroes, adventures, and fantastical worlds captivated me, and I longed to create my own. But these were always someone else’s stories, someone else’s world.

As I grew older, my passion for stories never waned. It evolved. I began to dream of creating something where everyone, especially children, could have their own stories—stories that are personalized, meaningful, and connected to their lives. That's how JustYoursBook was born.
